Pet Adoption Showcase
|  | These animals are available for adoption from Columbia County Animal Services. For more information, call (706) 541-4077 or visit www.columbiacountyga.gov and follow the links to Animal Services. Adult animals cost $25 to adopt, and puppies and kittens cost $20. Adopted animals must be spayed or neutered. Visitors must wear closed-in shoes to visit the kennel area, which is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. The facility is at 6337 Columbia Road in Appling.

|  | John Womack and his daughter, Cheryl Mobley, of Martinez, visited the Iwo Jima Memorial in Washington while there with the group Vets to Washington. Womack is a Marine veteran of World War II who earned a Purple Heart.
