As reported 44 years ago in the pages of The Columbia News, Thursday, Feb. 17, 1966:
Masters tickets are now on sale
Tickets are now on sale for the 1966 Masters Tournament, April 7-10, at the Augusta National Golf Club.
Golf fans should not make a trip to the famed event without purchasing in advance their admission requirements. Cliff Roberts, Masters Tournament chairman, said, "Last year we were greatly embarrassed by having to turn away large numbers who were apparently unaware that tickets were no longer available."
Applications for series badges or daily tickets should be mailed to the Masters Tournament. Price of series badges is $15. This includes practice rounds and play-off in case of a tie. Daily admission tickets are $2 for practice rounds, $5 for the first two days of the tournament and $7.50 for the last two days.

VFW basketball trophy awarded
The Evans Knights ended regular season play with three big records to the credit of Coach Ben Benton's chargers. First, the team ran its record to a fine 17-5, including C-H tournament play; they are listed in the state's top 10; and, probably more than anything else as far as the school is concerned, they brought the Columbia County VFW Trophy to Evans for the first time with a 75-62 victory over Harlem.
The Harlem girls captured the girls trophy with their third season victory over the Evans gals with a 34-32 win that saw the Evans girls lead through three quarters of play.
